Hello,

My name is Jimmie Williams and I am an Artist. I specialize in drawing everyday people, as well as celebrities. My mediums are pencil and charcoal. I met Sourish Saha on campus recently when he approached me and told me how much he appreciated my talent, and he decided to help me by allowing me to share a portion of his website and a friend’s website, www.SellGville.com, owned by Stanley Flink.

Let me give you a brief summary of my life as an Artist. I was born in Rochester, New York on May 27th, 1975. I began to draw in 1978, I was about 3 years old. My father was the man who first put a pencil in my hand. In 1983, we moved to a small town in northern Florida called Lake Butler, about 35 miles north of Gainesville. I lived there until I graduated high school in 1993. I then traveled to South Florida to attend the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale on a student loan which I received earlier that year. I was deeply inspired to go deeper in my skills when I saw many other talented young people at this small institute. It really impacted my life. I was moved with passion! But when I graduated, I couldn't find a job as an illustrator; they were only hiring graphic artists at the time. So I'm sad to say, I stopped drawing, and began a long boring journey in the restaurant business. I briefly got involved in sales and telemarketing, which I was very good at, but hated it very much. The passion had left me, but not the pure gift of drawing, which God gave to me when I was 3 years old. My talent was still in me, but I had no inspiration, and no drive to do it anymore. Especially after hearing all of the "Starving Artists” lies that my peers were always talking about. This went on for nearly ten years, from the year 1995 when I graduated from the Art Institute until the end of 2004. And I must say this, that if it had not been for my wife I would not be inspired the way I am today. In that 10 year period, I got married and started a family, and I became a "born-again" believer in the Lord Jesus Christ. These two events were the greatest events that happened to me in that period of time. My lovely wife heard me talk about my gift of drawing, and I would even draw her picture every now and then. Then she began to inspire me by saying "You have an amazing talent from God, don't waste it!" Late last year in August 2004, I finally listened to her. She was right! The amazing thing is that my gift got 10 times better, because I had 10 times the passion! And I truly believe that there is nothing that I cannot draw, if I really wanted to. We just recently moved back to Lake Butler from spending nearly 12 years in Fort Lauderdale. I couldn’t think of a better place to pursue my dream as a “World-Renowned” Artist than here in Gainesville, which I consider my home. Although I have had some minor persecutions as a beginning street artist, it has made me well-known around town.

I would like to say a special "Thanks" to Sourish and Stanley for this opportunity to share my life and talent with all of you.

Thanks, and God Bless

Artist Jimmie Williams.
